Peck - Truman R. Johnston, age 81, of Peck died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Peck, son of the late Henry and Minnie (Bohn) Johnston.
He and Carmen A. McAllister were married on Dec. 18, 1948, in Lockport, N.Y. She died Jan. 29, 1999.
Truman was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army in the European Theater, where he received a Bronze Star, and was awarded the French Croiux De Guerre by French President Charles DeGaulle.
He had his own milk hauling business in Sanilac County; then owned his own dairy route in Royal Oak for Burger Creamery.
He and his wife retired after 20 years of owning and operating Johnston's Meat Processing in Peck.
He then worked part time for area funeral directors, including Pomeroy Funeral Home from 1985 to 2000.
Active in the community, he was a member of the Sandusky Presbyterian Church and its Mens Club; the McKenzie Hospital Development Committee and the Friends of McKenzie; and he was a charter member of the Sandusky Kiwanis Club and a recipient of the Kiwanis George F. Hickson Award for outstanding service.
Surviving are two brothers, Eldon of Waverly Hall, Ga., and Harvey (Aileen) of Peck; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceeding him in death were his brothers, Howard, George, Kenneth and Leland; and sisters, Lois, Iva Seyferth, Mabel Gleason and Betty Roth.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Sandusky Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Mark Morningstar will officiate.
Burial will be in Elk Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Croswell, from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the church, McKenzie Memorial Hospital or United Hospice."

BROWN CITY -- Guy Howard Beals, 39, of Brown City, died Sunday, November 16, 2003 in Maple Valley Township.
He was born June 5, 1964 in Marlette to Howard and Joyce Beals.
He graduated from Brown City High School Class of 1983. He attended St. Clair County Community College and graduated with Honors from Michigan State University
A farmer, he was also Maple Valley Township Clerk and a dealer for Segmenta Seed Company. Also, Guy did sugar beet custom harvesting and was president of the Aide Association for Lutherans.
He is survived by his parents Howard and Joyce Beals; three sisters, Cindy Beals, Brenda Stephens and Amy (Steve) Huston; a nephew, Michael Stephens; a niece and Godchild Libby Huston; and Aaron Pooley a Godchild, along with many other family and friends.
A gathering for friends and family will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 9 p.m Wednesday in the Carman Funeral Home, Brown City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brown City with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Shriner's Children Hospital in Chicago.

BROWN CITY -- Laverne E. "Buzz" Beals, 69, of Brown City, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in his home.
He was born June 22, 1932, in Elk Township, near Peck, to Howard and Hilda Beals.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He graduated from Brown City High School Class of 1950.
On June 1, 1957, he married Evelyn J. Steaban in Capac.
A truck driver, he was an owner-operator and member of Teamsters Local 339, working 26 years with Hess Cartage delivering steel bridge beams.
Later, he drove for Triple R Trucking, driving bulk cement. He never had an accident in all his years of driving.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brown City and AAL Branch 7359, where he served as treas-urer for both for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn Beals; three children and two grandchildren, a daughter, Ann Marie (Dan) Krause of Lapeer and their daughter, Emily; a son, Carl (Marilyn) Beals of Port Huron and their son, Keenan; and a son, Gary (Sharon) Beals of Brown City; a brother, Howard "Prune" Beals and wife, Joyce; a sister, Sarah (W. Clark) Bertrand; a brother-in-law, Dee Dunlay; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helene Dunlay.
A visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today in Carman Funeral Home in Brown City.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Brown City with a dinner immediately afterward in the VFW Hall in Brown City.
The family will have a committal service later that day in Elk Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Brown City.
